Tips from the Pros: Skincare Edition
Are you looking for natural ways to maintain skin’s youth & elasticity? We’ve got you covered with a compiled list of the BEST tips from top skincare experts you will want to start incorporating asap.
Tip #1 Vitamin C Serum must be used in AM only!
Vitamin C is one of those products that, once you start using it, you’ll never go back. The daily benefits have the power to completely transform your appearance. A high-quality vitamin C serum is a must, my current go-to is VITAL C. Vit C is activated by the daylight- meaning if your using it with you pm regimen it’s not being activated properly. For pm opt for the ingredients to renew your skin (Like the SUPERSTART line)
Tip #2 Get out of the sun
Many studies have shown the more sun exposure we have, the quicker we age. The sun rays is so damaging to the skin if skin isn’t properly protected. My favorite tip I’ve learned is to add the suns UV Index to your lock screen. You’ll know when it’s at 10, to get OUT of the sun. The goal is to stay between 0-4. Anything past a 1, you want to grab your UV protected floppy hat, grab your protective gloves, and sunblock!
Tip #3 Double Cleanse
Double cleansing ensures that all makeup residue is removed from your skin. Here is my step-by-step guide on how to double cleanse:
First, Pick your oil. I typically reach for a Jojoba oil, but you can use Rosehip oil, or an oil cleanser like Living Liberations
Next, grab a baby soft wash cloth and your face wash of choice, my favorite is the Ultracalming cleaner.
Work the oil into the skin so all the makeup loosens. Run warm water on the wash cloth, and gently remove the oil from the skin (only dab, no tugging.. goodbye wrinkles). When all the oil is removed, apply your face wash. Then continue your skincare as usual.
Tip #4 Prioritize gut health
There is a close relationship between gut health and skin (and also your overall wellbeing). When you start caring for your gut and prioritize the nutrients that it needs to be healthy, you will take notice in an overall difference. I love taking JustThrive Probiotics and incorporating cottage cheese, yogurt, and Sauerkraut to receive pro and pre-biotics daily. If you struggle with breakouts, rashes, signs of aging, you may want to look incorporating gut supporting supplements and nutrients!
Tip #5 Avoid processed ingredients + take your supplements
You’ve heard it before “you are what you eat”. Studies have proven that an unhealthy diet can lead to a downward shift in your skin’s appearance. I try to prioritize grass-fed beef, organic foods, refined sugars and no seed oils. Yes there are a FEW foods that go under the “processed” category that might be labeled as healthy, but unfortunately, 9 times out of 10 they contain seed oils. While avoiding the bad foods, I try to always reach my supplement goals.I love taking collagen, electrolytes, healthy minerals, magnesium, vit c, and creatine. This covers health from my face and my body.
Tip #6 Skin Manipulations
How are we so focussed on working out our body but not our face? Daily workout for the skin is essential for getting youtful, glowy skin. Facial manipulations improve the skins elasticity by draining the lymphatic system plus the stimulation helps to bring oxygen to the skin, a natural form of anti-aging.
